Tea tree

Tea Tree (Melaleuca alternifolia)- 10mls

A clear and thin oil with a yellow tinge that is native to Australia where it has been used by the aborigines for centuries. It has become an all-time favourite essential oil as it is extremely versatile in its applications, and safe enough for children and adults to use. It is one of nature’s most potent immunostimulants and antimicrobials which has shown activity against several micro-organisms including bacteria, fungi and viruses. It is commonly used for skin surface infections such as acne, nail infections, dandruff, lice, athletes’ foot, insect bites, stings, boils, cold sores and various other minor infections. It has also been used as a local antiseptic for burns, cuts and wounds.

Although general usage principles apply, the extensive use of tea tree oil has helped create a body of evidence surrounding its use. Much of the evidence indicates successful use is dependent on the indication and concentration of tea tree oil in use.
